This ‘The Walking Dead’ character might not die after all

The Walking Dead character Carl Grimes “might not die”, according to comic book creator Robert Kirkman.

It had previously been assumed that the character would be written out of the show after he was revealed to have been bitten by a walker in the mid-season finale.

Speaking at the Walker Stalker Cruise Q&A panel, alongside some of the show’s cast, Kirkman said that wasn’t necessarily the way the show would go. “He’s not dead yet,” he said, as ComicBook reports. “He might not die. You never know.

“But I think if, were that to happen, I think that it would have some interesting ramifications on Rick [Grimes], that I think would energise and really kind of set things in motion in a really interesting way leading to the resolution of All Out War in a way that will make for a very exciting back half to season eight,” he continued. “So I think it’s going to be really cool.”

Kirkman also discussed whether Carl’s potential death would affect the comic book in any way, saying that he didn’t think it would “in a way that is detrimental to the show”. “I think that there’s a lot of great stuff from the comic that will be adapted into the show in season nine or beyond,” he said. “Comic book fans might be excited about the possibility of the Whisperers showing up in the show. I’m not confirming that, but I definitely would not rule it out.”

It was confirmed last week that The Walking Dead‘s eighth season will resume in the UK at 9pm on February 26 on FOX. The episode will air the day after its premiere in the US (February 25) on AMC.

The latest season of the acclaimed zombie show came to a halt for its traditional mid-season break in the UK on December 11.
